Third Watch is a NBC television drama that premiered in 1999. It follows the exploits of a group of men and women who serve the city of New York as police officers, firemen, and paramedics in the fictional 55th Precinct who work between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m, the "third watch". The show balances numerous single-episode events with other, ongoing storylines that can span multiple seasons. While Third Watch has been lauded for its emotional and honest portrayal of the events surrounding the 9/11 terrorist attacks, it has also been criticized in some circles for extremely detailed violence and prevalent profane language. The show is produced and written by the show's creator John Wells. Third Watch was not renewed by NBC in the spring of 2004, making the 6th Season the show's last.
