Thom Hartmann

Thom Hartmann is a U.S. broadcaster and non-fiction author. As of 2004 he hosts a 3-hour daily radio show broadcast on Sirius Satellite Radio, on radio stations in 29 U.S. states and podcast via mp3 archives at Whiterosesociety.org[1]. Generally counted as having progressive / liberal politics (although he describes himself as part of the radical middle) [2], he is the author of numerous books including Unequal Protection: The Rise of Corporate Dominance and Theft of Human Rights (ISBN 1579549551), in which he argues that the 1886 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad Company (118 U.S. 394) did not actually grant corporate personhood, and that this doctrine derives from a mistaken interpretation of a Supreme Court reporter's notes. Hartmann considers this a clear contradiction of the intent of the Founding Fathers of the United States.

Starting in 2005, he also hosted a local talk show in Portland, Oregon on KPOJ, an affiliate of Air America Radio and owned by Clear Channel Communications.

Perhaps one of his most important works would be Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight.

Hartmann has written a number of books about attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADD or ADHD) and adult attention-deficit disorder (AADD) and is known for having promulgated the now well-known hunter vs. farmer theory that ADD attributes in some humans may be a form of adaptive behavior. (As civilized society evolved, the attributes of a hunter gave way to those of a farmer for most people as society evolved from a nomadic existence to one of more permanent settlements). His work has also pointed to ADD as a gift for many persons.
