Thomas Frank
Thomas Frank (born 1965) is an American author who writes about what he calls "cultural politics". He is the founder and editor of The Baffler and the author of several books, most recently What's the Matter with Kansas?.
Frank grew up in Mission Hills, Kansas wher his father Lloyd Frank designed steel-frame cattle auction markets for cities across the state. Frank graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School and later attended the University of Kansas, transferred to the University of Virginia, and then attended the University of Chicago, where he received a Ph.D in history in 1994. He currently lives in Chicago, Illinois, where The Baffler is published, with his wife Wendy Edelberg and their daughter Madeline. He has two brothers, David and Nathan.
