Thrasymachus
Thrasymachus was a sophist most famous as a character in Book 1 of Plato's Republic, where he violently disagreed with Socrates' arguments about justice. In the Republic, he claims that 'injustice, if it is on a large enough scale, is stronger, freer, and more masterly than justice' (344c). It is not clear exactly how similar the views of the historical Thrasymachus are to those of the Thrasymahcus portrayed in the Republic.
