Thread

A thread is a large number of very thin fibers spun together, used in the manufacture of textiles and in sewing. See yarn.
The blades of a propeller are also called "threads".
The term "thread" is used in computer science as well, where it is short for "thread of execution". See Thread (computer science).
A string of consecutive message postings to a newsgroup, mailing list or Internet forum are also known as a thread.
In fiction, Thread is an extremely destructive mindless alien spore that appears throughout Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. See Thread (Pern).
In hardware, a screw thread is a system used to turn rotational movement into linear movement with a geometric form similar to an inclined plane wrapped around a cylinder. Examples include a screw, two segments of a hose, or a bolt to a nut,also see:
