Formed in Irvine, California in 1997, Thrice is an emo/post hardcore band. The band members knew each other from high school. Receiving only 1.5 stars in the AMG review, their first album still captured the attention of Sub City record label as well as a growing fanbase. When signing onto Sub City , the EP was reissued.
While with Sub City they released two LPs: "Identity Crisis" and "The Illusion of Safety", the latter which was widely acclaimed and recieved attention from major record labels. Unlike many of their following albums, "The Illusion of Safety", contained metalcore influence.
In 2003 they signed up with Island Records and released "The Artist in the Ambulance" which featured more structured songs while still keeping true to their hardcore influences.
In 2005 a DVD outlining their entire career thus-far was released under the name "If We Could Only See Us Now ".
Currently, Thrice is in the studio writing and recording their 4th LP. According to an interview in the January 2005 issue of Alternative Press, the next album will be different from the last and will resemble a "something like something you might hear in a film score; [parts] that move you emotionally on a level that just comes from the changes of the chords and the notes" (APJAN2005, p94). The album is scheduled for a 2005 Late Summer release.
Thrice has supported numerous non-profit acts and charities.
