Thumbring
A thumbring is used in oriental archery where the string of the bow is drawn with the thumb. The thumbring protects the archer's thumb and holds the string. This technique is often referred to as the "Mongolian release". Thumbrings are known to be used by archers in Asia and some regions of northern Africa. A wide variety of materials is used for making thumbrings, such as horn, wood, ivory, metal, plastic, glass or stone.
