Timocka Krajina
Timočka Krajina (Тимочка Крајина; Valea Timocului or Timoc in Romanian) is a region in eastern Serbia around the river Timok . It includes 8 municipalities: Zaječar, Bor, Negotin , Knjazevac , Sokobanja, Kladovo , Boljevac and Majdanpek . The main town in the region is Zaječar.
The region is rich in copper and gold mines, especially in the Bor and Majdanpek areas. The population (2002) is 284,112, of which 86% or 243,148 are Serbs, 8% or 23,604 are Vlachs and 1% or 2,723 are Gypsies. Most of Serbia's Vlachs are concentrated in the Timok Krajina. The almost exclusive religion is Serb Orthodoxy.
