Towarzysz pancerny
Towarzysz pancerny (Armoured companion), plural: Towarzysze pancerni or Pancerni was the name of medium-cavalry soldiers in Poland. The second important cavalry branch of the Polish army, after the Hussars.
Most of them were recruited amongst middle-class szlachta and organized in Armoured regiments (Chorągiew pancerna).
Since the 17th century (since 1676 in official use) in Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth also the name for "Registered Cossacks".
