Tramp steamer
A tramp steamer, or tramp for short, is any ship which is not dedicated to a Liner Service which has a fixed schedule and published ports of call. Tramp ships trade on the spot market with no fixed schedule or itinerary/ports-of-call(s). 'Steamer' or 'Steamers' no longer operate per-se as the turbine engine (oil burned to create heat to boil water to make steam) has been replaced by diesel engines which are used exclusively as a source of power in Tramp Steamers.
