Treaty of Bucharest, 1918
The Treaty of Bucharest was a peace treaty which the German Empire forced Romania to sign on May 7, 1918.
Among its terms:
- Romania had to cede Southern Dobrogea (the Cadrilater) to Bulgaria
- Romania had to give Austria-Hungary control of the passes of the Carpathian Mountains
- Romania leased oil wells to Germany for 90 years
However, it was never ratified by the Romanian parliament and after the Central Powers were defeated in November 1918, the Marghiloman government, it was nullified.
