Treaty of Füssen
The Treaty of Füssen, signed on 22 April 1745, ended the participation of Bavaria on the French side in the War of the Austrian Succession. The new Elector of Bavaria, Max Joseph, who had just succeeded his father, the unfortunate Emperor Charles VII, made peace with Maria Theresa and the Austrians. He abandoned his father's pretensions to the imperial throne, and agreed to support Maria Theresa's husband in the next election.
