Tsuen Wan West (KCRC)

Tsuen Wan West (荃灣西站) is a KCRC station located in Tsuen Wan, Kowloon. It is the only underground station on the West Rail. It is located between Mei Foo and Kam Sheung Road stations. There is an emergency platform at the southern side of the station.

The construction of the station was very complex. It required the diversion of some roads, the demolision of two factories, part of a nearby park, and the ferry pier originally on the site to be moved further outwards as the new public pier.

There is a large complex for interchange with buses and minibuses above the station, connecting it with most residential areas, factories, as well as shopping centres in the area. However, the station has had little passenger traffic since operation, prompting some to claim that its the least used station on the system. The reason for this is partially because the station is on newly reclaimed land, meaning that it is not centrally located. In fact, mostly only residents in a few nearby residential estates and workers from the factories near the station use the station.

Nevertheless, the waterfront promenade built along with the station's consruction connected the two ends of Tsuen Wan, significantly improved the scenery of the area, and provided an excellent leisure place for many southern and western residents. Locals are often found doing outdoor activities, such as fishing and jogging, along the promenade.
