Tuhoe
Tuhoe comprise a Māori iwi (roughly: "tribe") of New Zealand. They are referred to as the "people of the mist" although the word tuhoe literally means "high noon" in the Māori language. Tuhoe traditional lands lie in the Bay of Plenty and Te Urewera areas in eastern North Island. They did not suffer as many losses as some of the other iwi during New Zealand's colonial-period conflicts and have a reputation for their strong continued adherence to Māori identity.
