U.S. presidential election, 2004, in Pennsylvania
By voting for Senator Kerry, Pennsylvania was the only one of the three major swing states (the other two being Ohio and Florida) to choose the Democratic challenger. This victory can be attributed to the overwelmingly Democratic city of Philadelphia. Paradoxally, even if Pennsylvania is with no doubt a very tied state, it has not voted Republican since 1988 in a Presidential election.
