USS Guardfish
Two ships of the United States Navy have borne the name USS Guardfish, named in honor of the guardfish , a voracious green and silvery fish with elongated pike-like body and long narrow jaws.
- The first Guardfish, (SS-217), was a Gato-class submarine, commissioned in 1942 and struck in 1960.
- The second Guardfish, (SSN-612), was a Permit-class submarine, commissioned in 1966 and struck in 1992.
