Uchiumi
Uchiumi is a Japanese ocean village located in the Ehime Prefecture, in the southwestern part of the island of Shikoku, on the Uwa Sea. Buoys and wooden docks float throughout Uchiumi Bay, which is abundant in marine resources. Pearl culturing flourishes, as Uchiumi boasts the highest pearl output in Japan. The Yura Peninsula , with its picturesque saw-tooth coastline, is part of the Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park. It is known as an Angler’s Mecca where both on-shore and off-shore fishing are enjoyed. Sunokawa Park, resembling the "Ama-no-hashidate" in Kyoto (a Japanese natural wonder where a natural strip of land has formed across part of the Seto inland Sea creating a saltwater lake), is frequented by campers. Various types of ocean recreation, such as windsurfing, are also popular along the park's shoreline- one of the top 100 in Japan.
