Umgah

The Umgah are a fictional race of beings featured in the sci-fi Star Control computer game series.

Physiology

The Umgah are large, pink or lilac-colored blobs, with several mouths, eyes, and tentacles at various positions in their bodies. All Umgah are born with agoraphobia, and prefer biotic environments in their ships.

Philosophy

Umgah discussion is full of jokes, and their sense of humor is renowned throughout the galaxy. Umgah jokes often involve using a HyperWave caster to send messages to other civilizations, claiming to be gods or monsters. They have performed such jokes on the Ilwrath and the Spathi, in the former pretending to be gods, and in the latter pretending to be monsters such as the "Grand Master Planet Eater."

Starships

Umgah ships are very slow, with a short-range cone-shaped spray of antimatter that sprouts out from the front of their pod-shaped ship. This attack is very damaging and can be maintained indefinitely, providing a shield against most attacks from that direction. The Umgah ship also has a special ability that allows it to put on tremendous bursts of short-lived speed moving backward. With skill, a pilot can use this ability to dash out in front of an opponent's ship so that it passes into the antimatter cone before it can maneuver. However, due to the Drone's low crew number and difficulty in piloting, it is often considered by players to be a poor fighting ship.
