University High School of Urbana, Illinois
University High School is a school in Urbana, Illinois, that has students from 7th grade (roughly age 13) through 12th grade. "Uni High" is unusual in that some of its students skip eighth grade, so students are usually seventeen when they graduate.
Uni is a publicly-funded but competitive enrollment school. For many years, it was funded by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a place to experiment with educational curricula, but the University of Illinois withdrew most of its support in the early 1980s.
Uni has many famous alumni, including Pulitzer Prize-winner George Will, Nobel Prize winners Hamilton O. Smith, James Tobin, and Philip Anderson, and the best-selling author Iris Chang.
