University Students' Council

The University Students' Council represents the undergraduate students at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. It is a member of the Canadian Alliance of Students Associations and the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance.

Principles

  • To maintain responsible student government to act as the representative of undergraduate students in all issues affecting the student.
  • To represent all undergraduate Western students to the University and London communities and all levels of government.
  • To provide cost effective services that meet the needs of students.
  • To encourage student contributions to the University and the community at large.
  • To offer programming designed to enhance the educational, cultural, recreational, social, and intellectual experiences of undergraduate Western students.

Achievements

  • Over 700 employees (1 out of every 30 students)
  • Over 12,000 students involved in programming activities (1 out of every 2 students)
  • 26 Awareness weeks (out of 36 in the academic year)
  • Award winning radio station, CHRW 94.9 FM
  • Only daily student newspaper in Canada, The Gazette
  • A 21 million dollar incorporated not-for-profit student run organization
  • Largest student organization in Canada
