The Wiki Wiffle Bat is an award given to those who have shown exceptional skill in the area(s) of logic, rationality, dispute resolution/mediation, and a general attitude that betters Wikipedia as a whole, particularly in the face of flames and general animosity. The Bat itself is intended to represent the furor with which recipients of the award attempt to beat logic into even the thickest of skulls.

What is a Wiffle Bat?

The first Wiffle Bat was made in 1958 by a company called Wiffle Ball Inc. It was composed of two pieces of yellow plastic that snapped together to make a hollow plastic bat suitable for hitting the company's first product (and namesake) called Wiffle Balls. The Wiffle Bats of today are loyal to this design and are noted not only for their descent from the better-known "Wiffle Ball" but for the design, the nature of which makes them utterly ineffective if you actually wish to seriously harm someone, but excellent for theuraputic uses (for both the striker and the strikee).

Requirements

The requirements for giving someone the Wiki Wiffle Bat are:

  • They must have exhibited qualities befitting of the Bat, including but not limited to:
    • General coolness or awesomeness as demonstrated over an extended period of time
    • Logic or the ability to reason under the heat of flames
    • The ability to stand ones' ground despite being faced with a person or people that could be easily mistaken for solid brick walls.
  • The image of the Bat must be displayed on their user page. Therefore the person must consent to receiving the Bat.
  • You must add their name to the list on this page as well as your reasons for awarding it.
