Utsunomiya Line

Utsunomiya Line (Japanese: 宇都宮線 Utsunomiya Sen) is a name of railway lines that serve the city of Utsunomiya, Tochigi, Japan. There are two distinct lines that have the identical name.

  1. The (JR) Utsunomiya Line is the 159.9-kilometre Ueno Station (Tokyo)-Kuroiso Station (Nasushiobara, Tochigi ) portion of JR East Tohoku Main Line.
  2. The Tobu Utsunomiya Line is the 24.3-kilometre line from Shin-Tochigi Station in Tochigi, Tochigi to Tobu Utsunomiya Station in Utsunomiya owned and operated by Tobu Railway.

Currently the word "Utsunomiya Line" more often indicates the JR Utsunomiya Line, especially in non-Tobu environment or context.
