Uzwil
Uzwil is a municipality in the Canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland. It is located in the northern Toggenburg between Wil and Gossau and has an area of 14.49 km² and a population of 12,100 as of 2004.
Uzwil is at the railway line Geneva-St. Gallen and at the A1-Autobahn Geneva-St. Margrethen.
The municipality consists of the villages Niederuzwil, Uzwil, Henau, Algetshausen, Niederstetten, Oberstetten and Stolzenberg.
Uzwil was first mentoined in 819 as Uzzinwilare. The village of Henau was first mentoined 754 as Villa Aninauva at the Monastery of St. Gallen in the "Henau document" (Henauer Urkunde).
