VM Labs

VM Labs was the company behind the Nuon technology which was used in several DVD players from Samsung, Toshiba, & RCA. The Nuon technology bought features which other DVD's players didn't have at the time, this was around mid 2000, such as playing games created for Nuon, VLM (Virtual Light Machine) which was created by Jeff Minter. VLM displayed visualations while playing audio cd's, 128 speed rewinding/fast forwarding, zooming up to 16x & many more features.

VM Labs was also notorious in the Nuon circle for promising many things but delivering very little. They promised things like a modem for Nuon DVD Players, lots of games, et al but delivered very little.

As of December 2001, VM Labs was in debt. They were also funding games development for Nuon but because of the money problems, games in development were cancelled & the developers never got their money. They filed for Chapter 11 bankrupcy & the Nuon technology was purchased in 2002 by Genesis Microchip . Around July 2002, development on the Nuon technology was stopped & all former VM Labs employees were fired by Genesis Microchip & the Nuon division was shut down.

VM Labs was also hated by some Nuon owners because of their bad thinking when it came to video games. They thought that casual gamers want to play games such as Solitare but this is not true, casual gamers are inpressed by graphics aka eye candy, give them the best graphics & they might buy your games.
