VR lähiliikenne

VR lähiliikenne network is the commuter train network of Helsinki, Finland. The first line was built in 1969. It forms the heart of the public transportation infrastructure in the city with metro and trams.

Trains run only above grade in Helsinki metropolitan area. Although the train is run by VR, the Finnish national train company, and the bus network is run by the Helsinki Metropolitan Area Council, the system uses interchangeable tickets.

It is composed of 13 separate lines, although many of these lines are simply variations of each other with only minor differences.
