Vedavathi River

River Vedavathi is a river in India. It rises from the Western Ghats and flows through the states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh before joining river Tungabhadra. River Vedavathi is also called river Hagari in parts of Andhra Pradesh. Two rivers, Veda and Avathi arise in eastern part of Sahyadri Hill range, flow east word, concert near Pura and become river Vedavathi. On the bank of river Vedavathi, there is a famous temple of Shri Anjaneya at Kellodu, Hosadurga Taluk.

Vani Vilasa Saagara reservoir constructed across river Vedavathi dates back to a Century.

A tributary called Suvarnamukhi confluences with Vedavathi at Koodalahalli, Hiriyur Taluk. It is considered to be a 'Punya Bhumi' or the 'Sacred Land' by the locals.

The River then flows down to the South eastern state of Andhra Pradesh where the river is called 'hagari'. The river has a cultural significance, with the people along the belt of Hagari depending entirely on the river cultural and socio-economic aspects.

River Vedavathi is a tributary to river Tungabhadra, and joins Tungabhadra near Mantralaya .
