Volkhov River
Volkhov River (Волхов in Russian) is a river in the Novgorod Oblast and Leningrad Oblast in Russia.
Volkhov flows out of the Lake Ilmen and into the Lake Ladoga. Its length is 224 km. The area of its basin is 80,200 sq km. There is the Volkhov hydroelectric dam named after Vladimir Lenin. Volkhov's main tributaries are Oskuya , Pchevzha , Kerest and Tigoda .
The river freezes up in the late November and breaks up in the early April. The Volkhov is a navigable river. The cities, located along the river, are: Novgorod, Kirishy , Volkhov , Novaya Ladoga .
