Von Zimmermann
Counts von Zimmermann.
The title of Counts von Zimmermann was created by the Holy Roman Empire in 1790 to Christian Emanuel von Zimmermann, a Marshall of France, Knight of the Royal and Military Order of Louis, Captain in the Regiment of Swiss Guards and Hock und Wohl Geboren. The titles remainder is to his legitimate and natural heirs and descendants of both sexes.
The direct line had died out with Christian Emanuel's grandson, and his granddaughter, Carolina, was married to Francesco Antonio Crispo-Barbaro, 3rd Marquis di San Giorgio of Malta. Though upon the last direct male line's extinction, the Brother of the 5th Marquis di San Giorgio had inherited the title as heir of Count. General Frederick von Zimmermann. Today the family still exist but have shorten their name from Zimmermann-Barbaro di San Giorgio to St George.
Much of the Maltese nobility can claim descendants to the Zimmermann family who were highly connected to much of the French and Swiss nobility.
