Vordingborg Castle
The castle of Vordingborg in the Danish town of the same name was built in 1175 by King Valdemar I of Denmark (the Great) as a defensive castle. At the same time, his half-brother built another castle in a remote location which is known as Copenhagen.
Nowadays, the Vordingborg is a ruin, with parts of the 14th century ring walls and a 26m goose tower still standing.
It is the birth place of Queen Margaret I of Denmark.
