Vsevolod Mikhailovich Abramovich

Vsevolod Mikhailovich Abramovich (Russian: Всеволод Михайлович Абрамович) (August 11 1890-April 24 1913) was a Russian pioneer aviator.

Abramovich was born in Odessa and after finishing school, studied at the Charlottenburg technical college. At the same time, he began flying lessons and in 1911 gained a pilot's licence. He began working for the Wright brothers' German subsidiary, Flugmaschinen Wright in Johannesthal , and soon became their chief test pilot.

In 1912, Abramovich built his own aircraft, based on what he had learned at the Wright factory, and flew it to St Petersburg to participate in a military aircraft competition.

The same year, he set a world altitude record of 2,100 m (6,888 ft) and an endurance record for carrying four passengers for 46 minutes 57 seconds.

He was killed in a plane crash while instructing a student pilot.
