Walt Disney Studios

The Walt Disney Studios refers to several different entities and locations associated with the Walt Disney Company:

  • The Walt Disney Studios is one of the media empire's four main operating units. It includes Disney's motion picture studios, music labels, theatrical production company, and distribution companies.
  • Walt Disney Pictures, the company's flagship motion picture studio and producer of its animated features and some live-action features, is often referred to informally as the Disney Studios.
  • Walt Disney Television, the company's flagship television program studio and producer of its television programs, is often referred to informally as the Disney Studios.
  • The Walt Disney Studios complex in Burbank, California was built in 1939 and serves as the corporate headquarters for the Walt Disney Company. It is also a functioning film studio and hosts production facilities for Disney's various entertainment businesses.
  • The Walt Disney Studios theme park in Marne-la-Vallée, France opened in 2001 and is one part of the Disneyland Resort Paris.
  • The Disney-MGM Studios is a theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort, Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The park is sometimes referred to simply as the Disney Studios in promotional material, as a clause in the contract between Disney and MGM forbids the MGM name in any Disney advertisements. When the contract expires, the park will be known as the Walt Disney Studios Florida.
