Wee old man's pub

Wee Old Man's pubs are those public houses most often frequented, stereotypically, by unaccompanied old men. Such bars are normally decorated in their original style (or a recreation of something similar), do not play loud music and are patronised mostly by "locals" and "regulars." The drinks on sale are often much cheaper than in trendier establishments.

The term "wee old man's pub" is part of the general lexicon of Scotland and is commonly understood to mean the above. Wee old man's pubs stand in stark contrast to "style bars", which are more expensive, fashionable, and tend to attract the custom of those who are more image conscious or wish to mix with a younger and/or less conservative clientele.

Wee old man's pubs, particularly in Glasgow, Paisley and Lanarkshire, are more than likely to be either Rangers pubs or Celtic pubs. In other parts of Scotland there is sometimes a similar scenario where certain pubs are more likely to be frequented by a supporter of a certain team.
