Will Geer

William Auge (Will) Geer (March 9, 1902 - April 22, 1978) was an American actor. Geer is best known for his portrayal of the character "Grandpa" Zebulon "Zeb" Walton, in the popular 1970s TV series The Waltons.

Geer was also the longtime boyfriend of Harry Hay, founder of the first gay rights organization in the United States, according to Hay's memoir, Radically Gay: Gay Liberation in the Words of its Founder, published in 1996 (ISBN 0807070807).

In the German dubbing version, the first name of Zeb Walton was altered to Samuel "Sam" Walton because "Zeb" sounded too similar to "Sepp", a Bavarian short form of the name "Joseph".

Geer was born in Frankfort, Indiana.
