William Bach, Baron Bach

William Stephen Goulden Bach, Baron Bach (25 December 1946— ) is a Labour member of the House of Lords and is Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and the Minister for Defence Procurement for the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence.

One Parliamentary Under Secretary of State is traditionally a member of the House of Lords to answer defence questions in that House, something a member of the House of Commons cannot do. Bach replaced the Baroness Symons of Verham Dean in this role on June 8 2001 following the general election.

As Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Bach has one of the most high profile jobs in the MoD, that of defence procurement. Highlighting the level of British participation in the Joint Strike Fighter project Britain was involved in the choice between the Boeing X-32 and Lockheed X-35. Bach was present at the US Department of Defense annoucement that Lockheed Martin had won the competition. Bach was present at the signing of "Type Acceptance", basically the release into service, of the RAF's Typhoon.

Bach was previously a barrister and a local councillor in Leicester.
