William Haley
Sir William Haley was Director-General of the BBC from 1944 to 1952, succeeding Robert W. Foot and giving way to Sir Ian Jacob.
From 1952 to 1966 he was editor of The Times, a role in which he would be succeeded by William Rees-Mogg.
