William Perry (football)

William "Refrigerator" Perry (born December 16, 1962) was a football player.

Perry was born in Aiken, South Carolina. He attended Clemson University and in 1985 was a first round draft pick for the Chicago Bears. He gained his unique nickname due to his considerable size -- standing 6'2" tall and weighing as much as 370 lbs. his stature quickly brought to mind notions of a walking refrigerator.

William Perry became famous for his excellent work as a defensive lineman. Perry was used in a surpise play during a pro-bowl game as offensive lineman. Perry even had the opportunity to run the ball during Super Bowl XX.

The Fridge, as Perry was affectionately called, went on to play for nine years in the NFL.

The Fridge is one of several real people to be immortalized as a 3 3/4 inch G. I. Joe Action Figure in 1986.

Since retiring as a player he has founded his own construction company in his native South Carolina and made numerous public appearences.

Quote

"Even when I was little, I was big."
