Wilson Phillips

The pop trio Wilson Phillips is made up of Carnie Wilson, Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips. The group received significant publicity when their first album was released because all three of the members had parents who were prominent musicians; the Wilsons are the daughters of Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, while Phillips' parents are John Phillips and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas.

They have released the following albums:

  • Wilson Phillips (1990), which featured the #1 hits "Hold On" and "Release Me"
  • Shadows and Light (1992)
  • Greatest Hits (2000)
  • California (2004)

The group broke up after Shadows and Light was released. Their Greatest Hits album only included two tracks from their previous albums; the rest of the album consisted of alternate mixes, an interview, live performances, a track from Chynna's solo album, Naked and Sacred (1995), and two tracks from an album called The Wilsons that Carnie and Wendy released with their father, Brian Wilson, in 1997. The group got back together in 2004 to record California, an album of cover songs.
