Biography
Wuthering Heights is a Danish heavy metal band with a somewhat eclectic musical style, formed in 1992 under the name Minas Tirith, under which name they released one demo cassette, entitled Tales From the Woods. The band was then inactive for a long period until the release of Within in 1999. They followed this up with To Travel For Evermore in 2002 and Far From the Madding Crowd in 2004, which has recieved some critical acclaim amid the underground power metal and folk metal communities. They are currently signed to Locomotive Records
Musical Style and Genre
Wuthering Heights' musical style is relatively unique, combining elements of classic heavy metal and power metal with the highly virtuous speed metal style made popular amongst some sections of the heavy metal community by bands such as DragonForce, as well as strong overtones of Celtic folk music , including bagpipe sections on some songs. They are often described as being progressive metal, though they are not strictly in-line with the genre.
Lyrical Themes
Wuthering Heights' subject matter is somewhat varied, but typically includes Tolkienic Fantasy (sometimes with specific references to locales or creatures from Tolkien's works) and more traditional folklore-influenced works, with an additional emphasis on somwhat fantasy-tinged, new-age style nature themes.
Similar Bands
Wuthering Heights are quite distinctive, but someone looking for a similar style of music would probably best be directed to Elvenking or the later works of the group Cruachan.

Trivia
The band takes it's name from the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontė. Despite this, and the allusion in the name of their 2004 album to Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy, the band does not reference 19th century literature in their lyrics to any real extent.
