X Marks the Pedwalk

X Marks the Pedwalk was a German musical project whose styles have typically been described as ranging from industrial dance to electronic body music. X Marks the Pedwalk’s influence in the industrial / electronic music scene was considerable during the 1990’s, as they were one of the staple acts from the now-defunct infamous record label, Zoth Ommog .

Members / History

X Marks the Pedwalk was founded by Sevren Ni-Arb (b. Andre Schmechta, May 13, 1969) in 1987 along with Regan Eracs (b. Jorg Bohme). Schmechta, who did the writing, production, and engineering of all X Marks the Pedwalk tracks, was the only consistent member throughout XMTP’s history. Bohme left the band in 1992 to pursue other interests, and Schmechta enlisted the help of his brother Raive Yarx (b. Thorsten Schmechta, June 14, 1971). For the next several years, these two made musical history on the Zoth Ommog label along with label mates Leaether Strip, Funker Vogt, and others of that ilk.

Today, Andre Schmechta has put aside his work on X Marks the Pedwalk (along with his multitude of side-projects, including PAX, Ringtailed Snorter, Hyperdex-1-Sect, U-Tek, A-Head, among others) to concentrate on his family. He is married to Stefanie Eckmann (b. March 21, 1969) who has contributed vocals to XMTP under the name Estefania, and has two children.
