Xavier Becerra
Xavier Becerra (born January 26 1958), American politician, has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 1993, representing the 31st District of California (map). He was born in Sacramento, California, was educated at Stanford University, and was a lawyer, a staff member for California State Senator Art Torres , Deputy Attorney-General of California, and a member of the California State Assembly before entering the House. In 2001, he was an unsuccessful candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles losing the primary to Assembly Speaker Antonio Villaraigosa, and the eventual winner, City Attorney James Hahn.
He is a Roman Catholic.
