Yanka Kupala
Yanka Kupała (Янка Купала) (July 7, 1882 - June 28, 1942)penname Ivan Dominikovich Lucevich was a famous Belarussian poet. Arguably the most famous Belarussian nationalist, Kupala promoted the dying Belarussian language and attempted to further shield it against russification. Currently there is museum founded by his wife in Minsk which has many examples of his lifes work. The western city of Hrodna has the Yanka Kupala State University founded in 1978.
