York College (Nebraska)
York College is a private four year college affliated with the Churches of Christ located in York, Nebraska. The college was founded in 1890.
History
York College was founded in 1890 by the United Brethren Church . In 1946 the merger of the United Brethren Church and Evangelical Church transfered control of the school to Evangelical United Brethren Church . In 1956 the church transfered control to members of the Churches of Christ.
Student life
Chapel attendance is required. Chapel is held every weekday from 11:00 - 11:30 am. Chapel assemblies consist of a worship period followed by a program designed to educate or entertain. Students with excessive chapel absences may be fined and loose activities representing the college.
York College is a smoke-free campus. Tobacco use is prohibited. The school prohibits alcohol use by students on and off campus. Students are prohibited from being present at any establishment which the primary purpose is to serve alcohol.
Sexual immorality is prohibited. This includes premarital, extramarital, or homosexual activity. The school considers members of the opposite sex who stay overnight with each other to be inappropriate behavior, which may result in dismissal from the college.
