Yukihiro Matsumoto
Yukihiro Matsumoto (aka Matz) is a Japanese Free software programmer, best known as the creator of the Ruby programming language. He was born in Tottori prefecture and now lives in Shimane prefecture. He has a wife and four children.

He graduated with an information science degree from Tsukuba University . According to an interview conducted by Japan Inc., till the end of high school he was self taught. At university he specialized in computer science and associated himself with research departments that were working on programming languages and compilers.
He is currently the head of research at a company called Network Communications Laboratory (an open source systems integrator).
He was also a Mormon missionary.
