Yvain the Bastard
In Arthurian legend, Yvain the Bastard or Owain the Bastard is a son of King Urien of Gore and a knight of the Round Table. He is often confused with his half brother Sir Yvain, after whom he was named. Unlike his brother, whose mother was Morgan le Fay, King Urien sired Yvain the Bastard on the wife of his seneschal. He is encountered frequently in Arthurian romance as a hearty and sensible warrior. His death came at the hands of his cousin Gawain, ironically during the quest for the Holy Grail. The two met, disguised by their armor, and decided to joust. Yvain was mortally wounded and it was not until Gawain took him to a hermitage for his last rites that he realized he had killed his own cousin.
