Zatch Bell, known in Japan as Konjiki no Gash Bell!! (金色のガッシュ!!) is an anime and manga series by Makoto Raiku.

The anime, produced by Toei Animation, aired on Fuji TV in Japan. The anime (titled Zatch Bell!) was licensed by ShoPro Entertainment and premiered on Cartoon Network's Toonami programming block in North America on March 5, 2005. The manga ran in Shogakukan's Shonen Sunday in Japan. The manga (titled Zatch Bell without the exclamation mark) was licensed by Viz Communications in North America.

The main character, Kiyomaro Takamine, known in the English anime as Kiyo Takamine, is a 14-year old boy in junior high school. His father discovers an unconscious demon child ("mamodo child" in the English anime) named Gash Bell (Zatch Bell in the English anime), who was discovered in England. Kiyomaro's father sends the demon child to be Kiyomaro's mentor. One hundred demon children go to Earth every 1,000 years to battle to be the king, or in some cases the queen, of the demon world. Each demon child needs a human partner in order to use his or her spell book, and if his or her spell book is destroyed, he or she has to return to the demon world. Gash has amnesia, and Kiyomaro and Gash have to defend themselves from other demon children who want to be king/queen of the demon children.

Characters

Kiyomaro Takamine (Kiyo Takamine)

Kiyomaro Takamine (高嶺清麿 Takamine Kiyomaro) The main character. He is a 14-year old boy in junior high school. Kiyo is just an ordinary genius. Till his father sends him a mysterious birthday present. Now this little boy, Zatch might be just a friend Kiyo meets. Kiyo and Zatch Bell have to defend themselves from other demon children who want to be king of the demon children.

Gash Bell (Zatch Bell)

Kiyomaro's rivals and enemies. They're also demon children. Brago is voiced by Wally Wingert .

Tio (Tia)

Tio is a cute-looking pink haired mamono girl. Her powers are currently unknown at this time. She is voiced by Melissa Fahn.

Suzume Mizuno (Suzie)

Suzume Mizuno (水野鈴芽 Mizuno Suzume) is a girl who loves Kiyo.

• Zakair(Zacare)- Sends a bolt of lightning flying out of Gash's mouth.
• Rashield- Blocks a projectile attack and reflects it back with a lightning bolt as a bonus.
• Geykor(Gekore)- Throws a giant iceberg at the enemy.
• Freyzuno(Frezudo)- Freezes the target.
• Rayce(Rais)- Hurls a ball of darkmatter.
• Degan(Gravi-Rei)- Intensifies gravity to cripple and smash the target.
• Degano Rayce(Gigano-Reis)- Blasts darkmatter at everything in its path.
• Hlektam(Doruke)- Transforms the demon dog into a more and more vile beast.
• Dorsen- Fires sharp rocks at enemy.
• Yermay(Juron)- Controls giant roots to strangle people.
