1. For this experiment, the independent variable is the speed of the conveyor belt and the type of sensor used – touch sensor or light sensor. The dependent variable is the number of boxes counted. This is determined by observing and recording the counter readings. The constants (control variables) are the number of boxes and the length of the conveyer belt. 2. The touch sensor and the light sensor are installed onto the conveyor belt. One counter is connected to each sensor.
