| This science fair project was conducted to better understand how different types of wood shrink and expand when exposed to moisture. The science project experiment involved redwood, teak, black oak and red maple woods. | ||

| 1. For this science fair project, the independent variable is the type of wood used – redwood, teak, black oak and red maple. The dependent variable is the change in dimension of the wood after being dried in the oven, and at normal room humidity. This is determined with the use of the caliper. The constants (control variables) are the size of the wooden blocks, the air humidity of the surroundings and the humidity inside the oven. 2.
