THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES IN
GROWING FUNGI
Abstract
Objectives/Goals
BY, WATCHING HOW FAST FUNGI GREW ON THE BREAD THAT WAS LEFT ON THE TABLE AND
HOW SLOW IT GREW IN THE REFRIGERATOR, I DECIDED TO FIND OUT HOW THE DIFFERENT
TEMPERATURES EFFECT THE GROWTH OF FUNGI. MY HYPOTHESIS IS THAT WARMER
TEMPERATURES WILL CAUSE THE FUNGI TO GROW FASTER. 
Methods/Materials
FOR THIS EXPERIMENT I USED:
1) NON-PERSERVED WHEAT BREAD, CUTTING THREE 8CM X 8CM PIECES, 2) ADDING 1 GRAM
OF BROWN SUGAR AND 1 TEASPOON OF WATER TO EACH OF THE PIECES OF BREAD EVENLY,
3) PLACING EACH OF THE PREPARED SAMPLES IN A SEPERATE PLASTIC SANDWICH BAG .
ONE OF THE SAMPLES WHERE PLACED UNDER A LAMP AT 25.5*C, ONE AT 15.72*C IN ROOM
TEMPERATURE, AND ONE IN THE REFRIGERATOR AT 3.94*C. EVERY WEEK A PICTURE WAS
TAKEN ALONG WITH THE APPROPIRATE DATA. 
Results
THE RESULTS OF THE EXPERIMENT WERE THAT THE WARMER TEMPERATURE DOES CAUSE THE FUNGI TO GROW FASTER. IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE A SECOND EXPERIMENT WAS TAKEN IN THE SAME MATTER AS THE FIRST ONE RESULTING IN THE SAME CONCLUSION THAT THE WAMER TEMPERATURE DOES
INDEED CAUSE THE FUNGI TO DEVELOPE AT A FASTER RATE. THE EXPERIMENT IS IN CONTINUATION TO FURTHER PROVE MY HYPOTHESIS.
