THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES IN
GROWING FUNGI

Objectives/Goals
BY, WATCHING HOW FAST FUNGI GREW ON THE BREAD THAT WAS LEFT ON THE TABLE AND
HOW SLOW IT GREW IN THE REFRIGERATOR, I DECIDED TO FIND OUT HOW THE DIFFERENT
TEMPERATURES EFFECT THE GROWTH OF FUNGI. MY HYPOTHESIS IS THAT WARMER
TEMPERATURES WILL CAUSE THE FUNGI TO GROW FASTER. 

Methods/Materials:

1) NON-PERSERVED WHEAT BREAD, CUTTING THREE 8CM X 8CM PIECES,
2) ADDING 1 GRAM OF BROWN SUGAR AND 1 TEASPOON OF WATER TO EACH OF THE PIECES OF
BREAD EVENLY,
3) PLACING EACH OF THE PREPARED SAMPLES IN A SEPERATE PLASTIC SANDWICH BAG .
ONE OF THE SAMPLES WHERE PLACED UNDER A LAMP AT 25.5*C, ONE AT 15.72*C IN ROOM
TEMPERATURE, AND ONE IN THE REFRIGERATOR AT 3.94*C. EVERY WEEK A PICTURE WAS
TAKEN ALONG WITH THE APPROPIRATE DATA. 

Results:

THE RESULTS OF THE EXPERIMENT WERE THAT THE WARMER TEMPERATURE DOES CAUSE THE
FUNGI TO GROW FASTER. IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE A SECOND EXPERIMENT WAS TAKEN IN THE
SAME MATTER AS THE FIRST ONE RESULTING IN THE SAME CONCLUSION THAT THE WAMER
TEMPERATURE DOES
INDEED CAUSE THE FUNGI TO DEVELOPE AT A FASTER RATE. THE EXPERIMENT IS
IN CONTINUATION TO FURTHER PROVE MY HYPOTHESIS.
