Auditory Lateralization

Auditory Lateralization is how each ear sends sound to a different side of the brain for processing.

Think of it this way

Two funnels sit on a counter, one on the left and one on the right. The left funnel drains into a bowl on the right side. The right funnel drains into a bowl on the left side. Your ears work the same way: each ear sends sound to the far side of the brain.

Explaining auditory lateralization by grade level

Try playing a note in just one ear. Your left ear sends sound to the right side of your brain. Your right ear sends it to the left side. Each side of your brain hears in its own way.
